Thursday night, local rapper made good (and supporting actor in the critically underappreciated action masterpiece Wanted) Common performs in the relatively cozy confines of the Metro. That’s probably notable in and of itself, but the extra notable thing about the show is that it’s presented by Common’s Common Ground Foundation, and all proceeds from each $20 ticket go to long-running homeless-assistance group the Night Ministry. The event is cosponsored by Virgin Mobile, and tickets are available both online and at select IRL Virgin Mobile stores around the city.
Having seen Common in venues both large and small, I can confidently say that the intensity he brings to smaller stages is well worth the ticket price. And when was the last time you did something nice for somebody else?
