Over at Complex magazine’s website they have a surprisingly long and detailed “50 Greatest Chicago Rap Songs” feature put together with the assistance of Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive. As you might guess (especially if you like to rag on Chicago hip-hop), the bulk of the cuts are from Common, Kanye, Twista, and Lupe, making it more of a “50 Greatest Chicago Rap Songs That People Outside of Chicago Have Heard” feature. But local favorites like Mikkey Halsted, Bump J, and L.E.P. Bogus Boys get represented too, so I don’t feel like complaining much. Getting through the entire list and listening to all the songs could easily fill your afternoon, so get cracking.
