The Chicago Public Library has announced a design contest to celebrate the 10th anniversary of One Book, One Chicago. The literacy project highlights two books each year, and CPL hosts discussions and other programs around each book; this fall’s selection will be announced later this month. They’ll begin accepting submissions on August 8 from local artists, “who will be challenged to create a special anniversary poster that embodies the One Book, One Chicago program.” The deadline is September 11; voting will take place on the library’s Flickr page from September 19-25. Designs by the finalists will be put on display at the Harold Washington Library Center for an event October 11, and the winning design will be featured on billboards around Chicago.
