Through 5/29: Drink your way through the city during Chicago Craft Beer Week at events taking place at more than 400 venues all over town. Some of our top picks include Huge Ass Beer Night at Sheffield’s (3258 N. Sheffield) on Monday, South of 80 at the Green Lady (3328 N. Lincoln) on Tuesday, and the Art of Craft Beer at Village Tap (2055 W. Roscoe) on Thursday.
Through 6/11: “Women in Vision” at the Field Museum (1400 S. Lake Shore) is an exhibition of work by 11 female photographers. Aimee Levitt writes, “Spend an hour walking through the show and you’ll feel like you have seen the world, only a richer, more colorful world than the one you normally live in.”
Mon 5/23: Cosmic Convergence at Symphony Center (220 S. Michigan) features a screening of astronomer and visual artist José Francisco Salgado’s films accompanied by the Chicago Sinfonietta performing Holst’s The Planets. 7:30 PM
Tue 5/24: Hosted by DNAinfo’s Jen Sabella and CPS teacher Erika Wozniak, the Girl Talk premieres at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia). The talk show will highlight amazing women in Chicago. 6:30 PM
Tue 5/24: Teams of four put their music knowledge to the test for the chance to win signed items, posters, vinyl, and more at the Music Trivia Showdown at the Empty Bottle (1035 N. Western). A performance by Geoff Dolce follows. 7 PM
Wed 5/25: Detroit-based musician Jax Anderson, better known as Flint Eastwood, brings her indie-pop to Schubas (3159 N. Southport) tonight. 9 PM
Thu 5/26: Bike Night, a 20-mile motorcycle ride starting at Harley Davidson in Glenview, ends at the Twisted Spoke (501 N. Ogden) with beer, burgers, and whiskey. 6:30 PM
Thu 5/26: Rakim, one-half of the 80s hip-hop duo Eric B. and Rakim, plays their 1987 debut Paid in Full in its entirety at Park West (322 W. Armitage) tonight. Leor Galil writes, “Paid in Full is so embedded into the history and culture of the genre—and, for that matter, pop music—that Rakim’s wordplay still feels like an elemental part of our atmosphere in a way few other hip-hop acts have achieved.” 8 PM
