Subject: Update about Uptown Hull House’s historic Theatre

Dear Friends,

After fighting the good fight, I’m afraid the time has come to throw in the towel and say goodbye to the Leo Lerner Theater at the Uptown Center Hull House.

The straw that broke our back was the refusal of the Landmark Committee to even consider the building for landmark status. That left only the intervention of the city itself, and the Mayor, to save the day. But sadly they have ignored our entreaties for help, so we have no choice but to step aside and let the city zoning board grant permission to the developer to begin his work that will end the theater at 4520 N. Beacon.
