Now that it’s both spring and tax season, readings and lectures are appealing events, and there are some good ones this week; all but the last one (David Sedaris, natch) are free.

David Remnick discusses The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama with the Trib‘s Elizabeth Taylor (also a fine political biography author in her own right). Tuesday 4/13, 6pm, Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State St.

The felicitously named Goldie Goldbloom, author of the new novel Toads’ Museum of Freaks and Wonders; “one of the most satisfying pieces of writing I’ve read in some time,” writes Jerome Ludwig. Tuesday 4/13, 7pm, Book Stall at Chestnut Court, 811 Elm St. in Winnetka.
