The big news in this week’s Early Warnings is the North Coast Music Festival. Returning for a second year, the fest takes place in Union Park over Labor Day weekend (9/2-9/4) and features Common, David Guetta, Gogol Bordello, Lotus, Wiz Khalifa, and Thievery Corporation, among others. Though only a slice of the lineup has been announced, three-day passes are on sale now.
New show announcements also dropped for Tinariwen at Lincoln Hall, the Decemberists at the Aragon Ballroom, Bootsy Collins’s alleged farewell tour at the Congress Theater, All Tiny Creatures at the Empty Bottle, Steve Earle & the Dukes at the Vic, Ladybug Transistor at Schubas, the Nuge at House of Blues, and the Queers at Reggie’s, making lemonade by turning a date at the canceled Weaselfest into their own show.
On top of all that, Bottom Lounge hosts a damn fine-looking hardcore festival at the end of June called the Rumble, with straight-edge old-schoolers DYS and a slew of other bands that includes Most Precious Blood, 108, By the Grace of God, Madball, Ringworm, and Ceremony.
