We’re kicking off Giving Tuesday early this year! Your donation today will be matched up to $10K, doubling your impact! If you donate $50 today, the Reader will receive $100.

The Reader is now a community-funded nonprofit newsroom. Can we count on your support to help keep us publishing?

This week’s show announcements include a couple of encore performances: Death Cab for Cutie visits the UIC Pavilion in August with Frightened Rabbit only a few months after selling out Metro, and Alien Queen: The Concert was apparently just foolin’ about that May 13 show being a one-night-only revue reprise of the play. The second performance of the absurd Alien adaptation is June 10 at Metro.

Early-bird tickets to the annual punk beatdown known as Riot Fest (10/6-10/9) go on sale Saturday at noon. The schedule has yet to be made public, but it leaked a while ago that the Descendents will headline the October 8 date, likely at Congress Theater. That’s reason enough to go right there.

Other show announcements for the week include Swans at Bottom Lounge, God Is an Astronaut at Subterranean, KMFDM with Luc Van Acker at Bottom Lounge, They Might Be Giants at the Riviera Theatre, and the dynamic duo of Tiffany and Debbie Gibson at House of Blues, performing songs they wrote when they were 17 (kind of like what the Descendents will be doing).
