The big news around these parts is the official announcement of a Cap’n Jazz reunion at Bottom Lounge on July 17. There was of course a brief “secret” reunion set back in December during the Joan of Arc Don’t Mind Control Variety Show at the Empty Bottle, but I’m looking forward to seeing more than just a few songs of Cap’n Jazz’s disjointed and trailblazing early-90s emo (my copy of Analphabetapolothology will be spinning in my apartment very soon). Yesterday Bottom Lounge booker MP Shows posted to Twitter saying the show had sold out (it took less than 24 hours), but a subsequent tweet told Cap’n Jazz fans to check in at mpshows.com today at noon—I’m guessing a second show is about to be announced. Update 12:30 PM: Totally called it. Cap’n Jazz is also playing Bottom Lounge on Sunday, July 18.

This week’s helping of Early Warnings also includes Converge with Coalesce at Bottom Lounge, Cannibal Corpse at House of Blues, Coheed & Cambria at the Congress Theater, Deer Tick with Those Darlins at Bottom Lounge, Johann Johannson at Lincoln Hall, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings at the Vic, K’naan with Wale at Metro, and the Very Best at Bottom Lounge.
