The recently announced Cap’n Jazz shows at Bottom Lounge each sold out in about three seconds, which was about as surprising as a not at all surprising thing. Speaking of mid-90s bands, though (whether reunited or just persistent), this week’s show announcements include Chapterhouse at Lincoln Hall, Stone Temple Pilots at the Riviera Theatre, H2O at Reggie’s Rock Club, Blues Traveler at the House of Blues, and even Chicago’s own mighty Mushuganas, who are reuniting at Subterranean as part of the Windy City Sound Clash. New Early Warnings for this week also feature Echo & the Bunnymen at Metro, the Legendary Shack Shakers at Double Door, Mono at Lincoln Hall, the Spits with Nobunny at the Empty Bottle (my vote for most likely to be insanely fun), and sludge-metal dudes Weedeater at Reggie’s Rock Club (bassist and front man “Dixie” Dave Collins is soldiering on, despite having shot off one of his big toes last month while cleaning his favorite shotgun).
