• Quintron & Miss Pussycat

You may have noticed the absence of this roundup for the past couple of weeks—I’ve been vacationing in San Francisco and various tiny northern California towns. I’d apologize for the inconvenience, except I don’t think I’d really mean it.

This is an exceptional week to dive back into the action, with a load of Empty Bottle on-sales (the Dutchess & the Duke, Dengue Fever, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Greg Laswell) and the first of the season’s great outdoor arena/amphitheater megashows, whose perverse lineups and colossal egos simply can’t be contained by buildings with roofs.

On top of that the schedule for Millennium Park’s Downtown Sound series, which wasn’t supposed to go public till Tuesday, was leaked yesterday Tuesday by Jim DeRogatis. The ambitious series of free Monday-evening concerts features the Besnard Lakes, Hum, She & Him, Tony Allen, the Books, Caribou, and others.
