Among this week’s grab bag of Early Warnings are old-school ska institution the English Beat, Jack White-Alison Mosshart supergroup the Dead Weather, reunited Florida doom-pop pioneers Floor, drummer Max Weinberg (of Bruce and Conan fame) with his big band, the reanimated Hole (God knows the public eye has been starved for Courtney Love), the always outrageously attired Lil’ Kim, punk progenitors the New York Dolls, and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, who’s currently being dismantled all over Twitter and the blogosphere (Miles Raymer explains why).
The lineup has also been announced for the ambitious Edible Audio Picnic series in Millennium Park, and it includes the Cool Kids, Dosh, Green Velvet (aka Cajmere), High Places, Javelin, and the Juan Maclean. The free concerts take place every Monday at noon from June 7 till September 4.
The second annual Metronome Celebration—programmed by the Empty Bottle, the Congress Theater, the Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival, and MP Productions—features Akron/Family, Split Lip Rayfield, Margot & the Nuclear So & So’s, Pegboy, and Alejandro Marcovich, among others. Let’s hope the rain stays away this time.
As always, check out my full list of notables after the jump:
