- Sebastian Mlynars
Aside from a slew of aging rock stars playing the Ravinia Festival—Sting, Cheap Trick, Jethro Tull—this week’s batch of Early Warnings includes a couple of big-name actors living out their musical fantasies (Juliette Lewis and Steve Martin), a sweet selection of metal at Reggie’s Rock Club (Katatonia, Nile, Pentagram), and the return of Michael Gira and the almighty Swans, who’ll be at the Bottom Lounge in October.
Other notable announcements include Atari Teenage Riot (good news for the angst-ridden adolescent in me), buzzworthy indie party-rockers Fang Island opening for Maps & Atlases, electronic duo Matmos in collaboration with So Percussion, and the one and only Bobby McFerrin, who can put on a heck of a show despite being best known for cursing the planet with “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.”
In other, much more terrible news, Limp Bizkit are touring to support the comeback album they’re releasing this summer; they’ll be at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on July 15.
