It was bound to happen at some point. Rivers Cuomo and Weezer have decided to camp out in a handful of major cities for two nights apiece and play both of their most revered records, the Blue Album and Pinkerton, in their entirety. The Aragon Ballroom will host the Chicago dates, with the Blue Album performed on Friday, January 7, and Pinkerton on Saturday, January 8 (both shows will wrap up with a “greatest hits” set). And for those of you who still care about anything Weezer-related aside from those two albums, the band just released a new record on Epitaph (yes, Epitaph) titled Hurley, whose cover is simply a photo of the Lost character’s face. I consider this an affirmation that a retro Weezer tour is long overdue.

Other highlights this week include a slew of Lincoln Hall shows (Badly Drawn Boy, Glasser, Dashboard Confessional, Skatalites, the Sea and Cake), Bob Dylan at the Riviera, Holly Golightly & the Brokeoffs at the Beat Kitchen, and Young Jeezy at the Chicago Theatre.
