After almost immediately selling out its two Metro shows (March 26 and 27), the recently re-formed Godspeed You! Black Emperor has signed on for a third, at the Vic on March 28. The giants of instrumental postrock are playing at (and curating part of) All Tomorrow’s Parties in December, which provided the springboard for the handful of U.S. dates they’ve booked in 2011. Don’t count on more Chicago shows being announced. The Vic show will likely sell out too, so if you want to soak in the band’s ambient dirges in person, don’t wait to get your tickets.

This week Reggie’s Rock Club also made the latest in what’s become a semiregular series of monthly metal announcements: newly added shows include Arsis with Powerglove, Crowbar with Black Tusk, Deicide with Belphegor, and James LaBrie of Dream Theater.

A few more New Year’s Eve shows have trickled out (Cursive at Subterranean, Smoking Popes at Reggie’s, the Tossers at the Beat Kitchen), and the rest of the current batch of Early Warnings also includes Warpaint at Congress Theater, Cheap Time at the Empty Bottle, and Paul & Storm with Peter Sagal at Lincoln Hall.
