The big news in this week’s Early Warnings is the announcement of the Tomorrow Never Knows festival, hosted by Schubas, Lincoln Hall, and (for the first time) Metro during the frozen-toes part of winter (this year’s fest is January 12-16). The bill includes a slew of indie darlings at Lincoln Hall (Besnard Lakes, Mystery Jets, Handsome Furs) as well as up-and-comers and intimate acts at Schubas (S. Carey, Marketa Irglova, Drink Up Buttercup). Hip-hop hasn’t typically been a big part of the fest, but Metro is hosting a show with Freddie Gibbs and Rita J. on Fri 1/14 (tickets to that have yet to go on sale). Lineups will continue to fill out over the next couple of weeks.
Other Early Warnings highlights include Broken Bells at the Vic, Cake and Cradle of Filth at the House of Blues (on different nights, of course), Interpol at the Riviera Theatre, and Tapes ‘n Tapes at Lincoln Hall.
