Reggie’s Rock Club becomes vintage pop-punk heaven May 27-29, when Screeching Weasel celebrates its 25th anniversary with a three-day festival featuring Screeching Weasel (obviously), the Riverdales, the Queers, Chixdiggit, Teenage Bottlerocket, and others. Ben Weasel and his revolving-door cast of leather jackets have been plugging along in some form or another since 1986, various breakups and hiatuses included, and have recently been good for a show or two a year on the south side. Those always sell out, and I’d be shocked if this didn’t sell out in the time it takes to get to “Veronica Hates Me” on My Brain Hurts. Three-day passes go on sale this Saturday at noon; individual tickets are available beginning January 1 at noon.
Other Early Warnings this week include indie singer-songwriters Rocky Votolato and Matt Pond at Subterranean; an old-school hip-hop extravaganza at the Arie Crown Theater with Salt-n-Pepa, Doug E. Fresh, and Biz Markie; and a two-night stand at the Vic that’s bound to be heavy on the bourbon, plaid shirts, and grizzled beards, brought to you by the Drive-By Truckers.
