Edible Communities, publisher of local-food mag Edible Chicago, is soliciting votes for its Local Hero Awards with categories for best farm/farmer, chef/restaurant, food artisan, beverage artisan, and non-profit organization. There are no guidelines for how close to Chicago the entries have to be in order to qualify as “local” (as David Hammond points out in an interview with Paul Virant of Vie, at least one chef counts fish from Florida), so you’ll have to use your own judgment.
