Rodney Powell, an editor at University of Chicago Press, has written a short piece for the Front Table, the web magazine for the Seminary Co-op Bookstores, about the genesis of two recent film books with midwestern credentials: Dave Kehr’s When Movies Mattered (the subject of a recent Reader piece) and David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson’s Minding Movies.
