Chicago magazine is getting a new editor in chief — Elizabeth Fenner, an assistant managing editor of Time Inc.’s Money magazine in New York City. That’s not such a long way to go or strange place to look for an editor. Fenner, 47, grew up on Chicago’s North Shore. And when her college roommate from Notre Dame let her know a few months ago that Richard Babcock — editor of Chicago from 1991 until this past April — was retiring, Fenner went after his job. In town to visit her family, Fenner called Chicago publisher Rich Gamble to say she was interested.
