• Eugenia Kim’s line of hats for Target, available now

I suspect that part of the reason people don’t wear hats more often is that the good ones (and by “good” I mean well designed and constructed) are not cheap—even if they’re relatively simple, and not an art piece by someone like Philip Treacy. Rakish straw and cloth hats from New York milliner Eugenia Kim are relatively affordable, but that’s still low three figures in the hat world.

But: Target to the rescue! Yesterday Kim’s designs for the mass-market retailer—all under $20— debuted online and in stores, where they’ll be till June 28, although some styles already have sold out. Proof that the hat’s day has not passed after all?
