- Katie Aselton and Ross Partridge in “Feed the Fish”
After 20 years in Hollywood, including as assistant editor of Fight Club and editor of his uncle Tony Shalhoub‘s Monk, Michael Matzdorff returned to his family’s Door County farm last year to direct his first feature, the comedy Feed the Fish.
Ross Partridge stars as a burned out children’s book writer who heads into the north country, seeking inspiration in the polar bear plunge, as well as in a lady hockey player (Katie Aselton), a rural wise-man (Barry Corbin), and a relentless sheriff (Shalhoub).
Matzdorff and his producers have been self-releasing Feed the Fish in Wisconsin theaters. It played the Midwest Independent Film Festival here in November, and won best feature at the festival’s Best of the Midwest Awards Tuesday. It opens theatrically on Friday, Dec. 10 at the Davis Theater.
