We’re kicking off Giving Tuesday early this year! Your donation today will be matched up to $10K, doubling your impact! If you donate $50 today, the Reader will receive $100.

The Reader is now a community-funded nonprofit newsroom. Can we count on your support to help keep us publishing?

Every neighborhood needs a Vietnamese bakery, and now Lincoln Square has one. Nhu’ Lan, which opened last week in a former Greek bakery, has a menu of nine banh mi sandwiches (all $2.50 or under), 20 sweet rice or pudding desserts, and seven “meat products” (sausage, pate, headcheese), plus pastries and baguettes. When I stopped in last week they had yet to fill the shelves, but the three-page menu (pictured) indicates an operation on the scale of the great Ba Le on Broadway.
