In 2009, a Chicagoan got loaded (.158 BA level) and ran down a cyclist—actually, after his friend ran down a bicyclist, they stopped and switched places so he could run one down too—who fortunately didn’t have “life-threatening” injuries. The driver just got 10 days in jail.
Meanwhile, Erin Hughes, the New Trier student who left the scene of an accident after hitting another classmate, is facing three years in prison, for leaving the scene and for having smoked pot the day before.
