After a valiant struggle to resolve financial issues, Gen Art has called it quits. The founders of the 16-year-old organization, Ian and Stefan Gerard, sent out an e-mail yesterday to members, supporters, and press, announcing that “a major, new, corporate partnership unexpectedly collapsed a few weeks ago [and] we found ourselves without sufficient resources or time to overcome this sudden and substantial loss of revenue.”

They added: “We hope that where we have left off, others will step up to help fill the void.” The organization was a big supporter of local fashion designers, who will now have one less resource to turn to in a tough business.
