Hoping to build momentum and inspire donations, the folks behind the upcoming Chicago Fringe Festival (9/1-9/5) have put together a sampler platter of some of the finer quirkiness the city’s got to offer for their free event at Black Rock Pub (3614 N. Damen), Monday 7/19, 7 PM.

None of the acts here are actually on the fest roster, which was selected by lottery, but there are several solid bets. Local burlesque queen Red Hot Annie will reprise scenes from her revue, Rollin’ Outta Here Naked: A Big Lebowski Burlesque, and the multi-disciplinary Innervation Dance Cooperative will perform pieces from a new ballet, Gods, Monsters, and Heroes. The Vintage Theatre Collective, which creatively adapts classic scripts, is also scheduled to appear. Droll puppet company Crash Pad and monologist Dan Hanrahan round out the lineup.
