After mixing it up the last few games—with two fights last Friday against the Anaheim Ducks and another, justifiable, which nonetheless cost them the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday—the Blackhawks simply returned to business Wednesday against the Montreal Canadiens. So did goalie Corey Crawford, who made 20 stops in his first start in more than two weeks to claim a 5-1 victory. Crawford allowed a goal on a near-impossible-to-stop deflection on a power play in the second period, but the Hawks did the rest of the scoring, starting with a two-goal blitz in 21 seconds, with Patrick Sharp putting the Hawks ahead with a nicely delayed wrist shot. The Hawks now get a well-deserved four-day break for the holidays, perched atop the National Hockey League standings with 48 points.
