We received a sweet letter today addressed to Chicagoreader.com . . . attention Ruth Reichl:
“Congratulations on your recent nomination for the 2009 James Beard Foundation Award. We hope that your commitment to bringing excellence to the Midwest will be rewarded, and that we will celebrate together soon at The French Pastry School. Good luck to you, and best wishes! Sincerely, Jacquy Pfeiffer and Sebastien Canonne, M.O.F, Founders and Owners of The French Pastry School.”
Who could resist a celebration at the French Pastry School? But we have to confess, we’re rooting for our real Food & Drink columnist, Mike Sula, who’s heading to New York for the awards ceremony this weekend, nominated in the category of multimedia food journalism for the Whole Hog Project. He’s up against none other than Ruth Reichl.
If all goes well, Mike will be tweeting from the awards ceremonies Sunday and Monday night at twitter.com/MikeSula.
