Local singer-songwriter Owen Ashworth has kept busy recently working on a new Advance Base album, Nephew in the Wild, which will be his first full-length since 2012’s lovely A Shut-In’s Prayer. Tomorrow night Ashworth will perform at Comfort Station in Logan Square, which will be the last time you’ll be able to catch him in Chicago till August, which is when he’ll release Nephew in the Wild on his label, Orindal. To prepare for the show, take a listen to Advance Base’s “Motion Juice,” on which Ashworth spices up his mellow Rhodes melodies with the healthy kick of a lo-fi percussion loop. The song originally came out on a compilation for Crap Kingdom, a 2013 YA novel written by comedian DC Pierson, and Ashworth also included “Motion Juice” on an Advance Base odds and ends compilation he released last year called Plastic Owen Band. Take a listen to “Motion Juice” below, it’s today’s 12 O’Clock Track, and prepare for tomorrow night’s Comfort Station show; Maine psych-folk musician Lisa/Liza opens, and it all starts at 7 PM.
