In case you’ve made it this far into the day without getting pranked and need to be reminded of the nonholiday some of us are celebrating, today is April Fools’ Day. I’m more accustomed to delivering the jokes in person than online, so I hope you forgive me for being obviously forthright about my selection for today’s 12 O’Clock Track, which is kind of, sort of a Modest Mouse song. If you can read text—and if you’ve made it this far I think we can all agree you do—I doubt you’ll think the following song is entirely made by Modest Mouse. I mean, just look at the title on the YouTube player and the cover art. But if you’ve got a friend around with no clear view of whatever screen you’re reading, maybe tell them you want to play them a song off Modest Mouse’s brand new album, Strangers to Ourselves, and treat them to this, um, smashing mashup instead. Whatever the case may be I hope whoever presses play below gets a nice chuckle out of it—and if not, I hope I didn’t ruin two bands for you.
