All month, The Logan Square International Film Series is screening “amazing foreign films remade into American films,” starting with George Sluizer’s eminently creepy 1988 Dutch psychological abduction thriller The Vanishing, which Sluizer adapted with Tim Krabbe from Krabbe’s novel The Golden Egg. Sluizer himself went on to direct the much less acclaimed 1993 remake featuring Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock.
