The “SECRET pop up dinner event” Dîner en Blanc, which seems to be an international event (. . . French?), debuts in Chicago on August 24 (h/t Gapers Block), and I’ve been staring at the website for a while trying to figure out if it’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of or, on the other hand, not, which is a judgment that I generally do not have a hard time making. Consider:

• It’s a picnic where everybody has to wear white, and you don’t find out its location till just beforehand, and if you can’t immediately register you get wait-listed. The wait list is now open. BYO food and drinks or buy them from Tony Mantuano.
