Here at the Reader, we’ve grown accustomed to an annual tradition: a month of readers voting on (and critics pondering over) selections for our Best of Chicago issue, and 11 months of people asking us when that month is coming. Well, the moment has come—it’s time to vote in our Best of Chicago Readers’ Poll.
At our Best of Chicago ballot you can vote on Best Underground Art Space, Best Place for a New El Stop, and Best Place to Get Married. At any point you can stop, save your ballot from your phone or computer, and later sign back in wherever you are. We figure that with 264 categories—from Best Suburb to Best Sex Shop—you might need to make several trips (and perhaps rethink certain choices if, say, you encounter an even more transcendent taco than the one you thought couldn’t be topped). But make sure to do all your thinking and rethinking by May 22, when our Best of Chicago polls close.
There’s one category you won’t find on the ballot. Like last year, we’re asking you to vote for Chicago’s Best Chicagoan to Follow on Twitter . . . on Twitter. Tweet your suggestions using the hashtag #boctwitterer. We’re not sure if that’s the proper term, but as far as we’re concerned, “tweeter” is a speaker store.
So show us what you know about Chicago and start digging into your ballot now—May 22 will be here sooner than you think. And as 2Pac said (I’m paraphrasing here), it’s better to vote early than forget about voting entirely.
