One of the south’s finest writers in any medium, Jason Isbell, plays the Beat Kitchen tonight at 10:30. Until April, he was one of the three singer-songwriters in the Drive-by Truckers, and I’ll miss his presence in one of my favorite bands, since a ferocious three-guitar lineup with that kind of songwriting talent will be impossible to replicate. His oeuvre, however, suggests the talent to go solo.
