A bright shining example of what’s wrong with Jay Mariotti:

“When Ozzie Guillen isn’t picking stupid fights with someone named C.J. Wilson — I see he’s stooping to much lower levels than me and Magglio Ordonez”

C.J. Wilson is the closer for the Texas Rangers. He’s not an elite closer yet, and he’s not having his best season–4.89 ERA, which is high, and a WHIP of 1.56, which is worse, but he’s also only blown two of 25 save opportunities, which is very good–but he is in an extremely elite class of athletes. And from his blog he seems like a nice guy, who finds inspiration in David Lynch. I think Mariotti could stand to read Catching the Big Fish: Meditation Consciousness and Creativity.
