UPDATE: The Malort event has been canceled

Chicago Opera Theater’s Opera Underground inaugurates I’m on a Boat!, which it plans as an annual booze cruise. Chicago CruisesSummer of George will glide down the Chicago River to Lake Michigan as the Chicago skyline provides the backdrop for the performances of selected COT singers. A ticket includes an open wine and beer bar with light hors d’oeuvres. 6:30-8:30 PM, Chicago Cruises, 330 N. Wabash, $40, $50 at the door.

Owen & Engine serves up a four-course Belgian beer dinner in conjunction with importers Wetten Bros. The meal’s designed to showcase the “quality and food-friendliness of Belgian Family beers,” which Wetten reps will be on hand to discuss. Logan Square’s first annual Taste of Latin America is a celebration of Chicago’s vast and varied collection of Latin American food, wine, and art. Saturday features cooking demonstrations from some of Chicago’s premier Latin American restaurants, and the festivities draw to a close Sunday with chef competitions. Traditional and modern Latin American music will be performed on the entertainment stage, and local Latin America artists will display their various arts and crafts.
