“Why is Tokyo for it? Why is Rio de Janeiro for it? Why is Madrid? They’re all in recession. Why are they seeking it? Every other city prior to the announcement by the U.S. Olympic Committee that we were winners — everybody else wanted it,” Daley said.
I wonder if the mayor is aware – and for his own sake, and that of the city’s – that it’s not so much the Olympics, in the abstract, that people are against. The problem?
IT’S THAT PEOPLE DON’T TRUST THE CITY TO NOT SCREW IT UP.
Rightfully or not – and there’s dramatic, recent precedent – that really seems like the root problem.
