Though it was somewhat surprising to me on Monday to find out that on-fire local wunderkind rapper Chief Keef was big enough to have a Twitter impersonator (or to deserve a verified account), it wouldn’t be today, after Kanye’s star-studded remix of Keef’s “I Don’t Like” went online last night and instantly became the biggest thing on the Internet.
Rumors have been going around that Kanye wants to sign Keef to his G.O.O.D. Music imprint ever since local fixture DJ Pharris came back from recording a guest spot on Ye’s latest single, “Way Too Cold”—during the session Ye reportedly wouldn’t stop talking about how “I Don’t Like” was the best thing since “Niggas in Paris.” But Keef says he hasn’t heard anything directly from Kanye yet, not even a heads-up about the remix. Apparently “I Don’t Like” producer Young Chop hasn’t heard anything either, and he’s less than pleased with the liberties that Ye took with his beat—he’s threatened in an interview to “sue the shit” out of Kanye. He’s going to have to get in line.
