If you’re a holiday procrastinator like me, you don’t necessarily have to waste half an hour looking through neglected toasters at Target and Best Buy (which is what I did last night). If, for instance, your mom doesn’t want a toaster, you might have better luck at the Hideout’s (1354 W. Wabansia) second-annual holiday sale, tonight from 6 to 9 PM.
Items up for sale include bowling ball bags, bottlecap and resin jewelry, guitar and camera straps, snow domes, handmade soap, and records, gear, and apparel from Bloodshot. Many of the items are handmade and most come from local Chicago artists like Helen Tsatsos, Cindy Tomczyk, Weener Ware, and Kiku Handmade. Plus, some folks from Vella Cafe are going to be around, pressing panini and selling pastry-related gift items as well as taking orders to help you fill your holiday cookie jar. The Western Elstons will cap off the evening with a free set at 9:30 PM.
