Check out Sharp Darts this week, where Miles Raymer reviews Nonesuch Records’ new DVD Ashes of American Flags, chronicling five nights of a 2008 Wilco tour.

Wilco’s studio albums have never impressed Raymer much, but to his ears they’re practically a different band live. In the column he writes, “The consistently solid performances, which feel easygoing no matter how high the energy level, are all shot through with a wild improvisational streak that runs way hotter onstage than in the studio.”

The disc was made available to independent brick-and-mortar outlets on Record Store Day, and it’ll be released for everybody else on Tuesday, April 28.
