• Coping, we hardly knew ye

I’ve been a fan of local posthardcore four-piece Coping ever since I stumbled upon them at a show at defunct DIY space Summer Camp in summer 2010. So when the band announced in May that it was calling it quits, it bummed me out. The sad songs I’d learned from Coping’s Lawndale cassette EP have an uplifting, cathartic energy to offset their troubled lyrics, but there didn’t seem to be a plus side to the band breaking up.

Coping had their debut full-length in the works before they announced their imminent end, and Monday afternoon they released it via Bandcamp: Nope is ten tracks long, and it’s a rager.
