Things are going well for at least some local designers and retailers—Michelle Tan has brought her forward-looking mindset to State Street with a second location in the Block 37 development. And her Bucktown neighbor Claudia Kleiner will open Claudia Kleiner Malabar Collection there next Tuesday. They’ll share space with big chains Zara, Steve Madden, and Anthropologie, which have already opened their doors, and the seemingly unstoppable trendy-fashion powerhouse Akira.
