Twin Peaks in top pizza form

The Old Style Chicago Pizza Summit is serving up a steaming slice of rock ‘n’ roll to go along with all the za and beer. Raucous local rockers Twin Peaks have been announced today as the surprise hometown musical guest playing at the eat-and-drinkathon on April 22.

“We, your dudes of Twin Peaks, are so excited to play this year’s pizza summit,” the band said in a statement. It “throw[s] together four of our favorite things: Chicago, pizza, Old Style, and Thalia Hall!”

This third annual Pizza Summit is being advertised as the biggest serving yet. After two years at the Chop Shop, it’s migrated south to Thalia Hall, which can accommodate double the 2,000 pizza lovers who’ve attended in the past. There are also more participating pizza joints and cooks—a dozen to be exact—presenting their own unique takes on the iconic pie. That means plenty of thin-crust, deep-dish—even pizza in a bag. In addition, the winners of a pizza recipe contest will be presenting their entries at the event.

It’s called a pizza summit, but, that’s a fancy word for what’s essentially a big-ass pizza party and a genius marketing stunt for Old Style. The back-to-back sessions on April 22 each feature musical guests Twin Peaks, MC ShowYouSuck, a pop-up exhibit from the U.S. Pizza Museum (think vintage menus, oddball pizza memorabilia), a Glitter Guts pizza photo booth, and two Chicago-inspired art galleries by Ryan Duggan and the Chicago Neighborhoods. Old Style is also using the summit to offer attendees the first taste of a brand-new brew the company is unveiling this summer.

Tickets are sold out, but Do312 is giving away a pair of tickets for some lucky folks.
