Through 10/1: Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre’s Fall Series at Links Hall (3111 N. Western) features four new works, two of them by cofounder Joe Cerqua. Fri 7 PM, Sat 4 and 7 PM

Fri 9/30: Drinkers With Writing Problems presents Lit Up!, a night of live lit at Brisku’s Bistro (4100 N. Kedzie) featuring Elizabeth Gomez, Kate Hawbaker-Krohn, Ada Cheng, and more. 7:30 PM

9/30-10/2: The Bangs 2016 craft fair—which takes place on the corner of Lincoln, Wellington, and Southport—features work by local artists and businesses along with tarot readings, a Doritos bar, live music, and free bang and beard trims from Logan Parlor. Fri 5-9 PM, Sat 11 AM-9 PM, Sun 11 AM-6 PM

Sat 10/1: Taste samples from 18 different breweries including Ale Syndicate, Moody Tongue, and Tighthead at the Logan Square Beer Festival at Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie). 1-4 PM and 5-8 PM

Sat 10/1: The Riverside Art Center (32 E. Quincy, Riverside) gala RAC the House features hors d’oeuvres by the Chew Chew, live music from Alewife and Beverly Gibson Aieta, a raffle, a dance party, and a glimpse at work from local artists. 6 PM-midnight

Sat 10/1: Wry stand-up Demetri Martin stops by the Vic (3145 N. Sheffield) on his Persistence of Jokes tour. 8 PM

Sun 10/2: A celebration of modern Filipino-American food at Emporium Arcade Bar (2363 N. Milwaukee), Kultura Festival 2016 features bites from AC Boral (California’s Naks Tacos), Bjorn DelaCruz (New York’s Manila Social Club), Sharwin L. Tee from the Philippines, local chef Chrissy Camba, and more plus live music, workshops, and a balut-eating contest. 11 AM-6 PM

Sun 10/2: 
Chef Charlie McKenna, rapper Taylor Bennet, and photographer Paul Octavious­ are among the local personalities serving up their best barbecue creations at the All-Star BBQ in Palmer Square (3100 W. Palmer). The event is part of Taste Talks Chicago. Noon-5 PM

Sun 10/2: Will Braden, creator of Henri Chat Le Noir, hosts CatVideo Fest at the Music Box (3733 N. Southport), a screening of back-to-back-to-back cat videos benefiting Friends of Chicago Animal & Care Control and Red Door Animal Shelter. 2 and 5 PM
