Martin Atkins is taking time out tonight to drop in at Reggie’s Music Joint (2105 S. State) and discuss his jam-packed 600-page book, Tour: Smart, which was released late last year. Having played in PiL, Ministry, Pigface, and Killing Joke, as well as founding and operating local institution Invisible Records, I’d imagine Atkins has a hell of a lot to say on DIY booking, getting a better live sound, and handling the almighty guest list–just a tiny fraction of the subjects the book addresses.
This touring bible also contains insight from an array of seasoned veterans who are not Atkins, among them the always quotable Henry Rollins, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, and the infamous Cynthia Plaster Caster. Fun times. The free, all-ages event begins at 6:30 PM tonight; seating is limited, though, so you must register in advance.
