  • Mats Gustafsson

Swedish saxophonist Mats Gustafsson is notorious as a record collector—he’s especially fond of esoteric sounds, particularly free improvisation, jazz, and experimental music. He once formed a group called Diskaholics Anonymous with fellow record fiends Thurston Moore and Jim O’Rourke, and they pressed one of their releases in a tiny edition expressly so that each member could trade his own copies to other collectors for super-rare titles. For years the saxophonist has devoted a section of his website to records he’s looking for and items he’s willing to trade for them. Now Gustafsson has taken his obsession public in a new way, with a site that draws on the interests and habits of record collectors of extreme music.
