Mayor Daley gets heat for not making sense when he talks – not unlike his father, actually – but there’s a reason why. When he does make sense, it often ends badly (background here):

“Daley said the alderman’s efforts to help a relative and possibly other constituents showed the need to build more good schools in the city.”

“Daley said alderman don’t have control over how schools are funded or any other ‘budget consequences.'”*

“Daley told reporters that he had never made any calls about admission to the city’s public schools, because his children had gone to private schools.”

*Okay, I’ll believe that.
