• One of the images Ischar renders strange

One day after Columbia College presents three short films by Columbia photography professor Peter Thompson, the campus plays host to a program of works by Doug Ischar, a multimedia artist and a professor of photography at UIC. The program, presented by Chicago Filmmakers, takes place ThursdayFriday at 7:30 PM at 623 S. Wabash. It features four of Ischar’s recent works, culminating with the premiere of his latest, Tristes Tarzan. A personal essay that recalls Jean-Luc Godard’s Histoire(s) du Cinema in its synthesis of film and music clips, the short draws most of its imagery from an early Tarzan serial and renders it strange through video editing effects and a soundtrack comprised mostly of classical music. Ischar will attend and lead a discussion following the screening; you can read more about the event here.
