Jeremy Piven is dropping out of the Broadway revival of Speed-the-Plow for health reasons–specifically, a condition caused by a high level of mercury in his system, according to Variety. The Chicago-bred actor and voracious (or, as OMG! would have it, “veracious”) sushi eater has been starring in the dark comedy by fellow local-boy-made-good, David Mamet, who told Variety that new actors would be “helping out and stepping in” but didn’t name names. A satire of the film industry inspired by Mamet’s own experiences in Hollywood, Speed-the-Plow was itself the subject of a stage parody by Arthur Kopit called Bone-the-Fish.
