The former Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, which had a landlord censorship issue last year, has changed its name and location and is up this weekend as the “inaugural Logan Square Arts Festival.”
It kicks off tonight on the square at Kedzie, Logan, and Milwaukee, near the Illinois Centennial Monument, and continues through the weekend, offering 30 bands and over 50 artists, along with food and drink from local vendors. There’s a full schedule here and a map here.
Logan Square Arts Festival director and I Am Logan Square president Geary Yonker, says the change of location and name are meant to indicate that this is an event representing the whole neighborhood and also to reflect the fact that a portion of the proceeds will go toward restoration of the Centennial Monument.
I Am Logan Square has made changes to its board of directors this year, including the addition of Billy Helmkamp (from the Whistler), Sam Lewis (of Elastic Arts Foundation), and Lindsey Meyers (of Beauty and Brawn Gallery).
Festival hours are 5 PM to 10 PM tonight and noon to 10 PM Saturday and Sunday; suggested gate donation is $5.
